Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore (1782–1799), introduced a sophisticated system of coinage, including copper coins, as part of his economic reforms. His coins, known as "Pice" and "Daam," were minted with inscriptions in Persian and Arabic, reflecting his Islamic faith and the Persian influence in his court. These coins often bore his titles, such as "Padshah" (emperor), and symbols like a lion or the sun, representing strength and prosperity. Tipu Sultan issued coins in various denominations to facilitate trade and standardize currency in his kingdom. His innovative approach to minting reflected his vision for an independent and prosperous Mysore.
