Although the banknote series was issued by the newly established Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam, the banknotes still carry the country name NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM instead of the bank name. The obverse of the banknote features the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien mosque and ceremonial barge, a bunga simpur or dillenia suffruticosa flower which is the national flower of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzadin Waddaulah in uniform and dastar headgear, and the national emblem. The back of the note depicts the Omar Ali Saiffudin mosque located in Bandar Seri Begawan, a lagoon, and the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation building. It also bears a flower for its registration device. The 141 x 69 mm banknote is made of polymer and bears a watermark which shows a shadow image of Sultan and HB.
