In 2015, India Post commemorated the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi’s return from South Africa by issuing a special miniature sheet on January 8, 2015. This release marked a significant milestone in both Gandhi’s life and India’s history.​
Design & Features
The miniature sheet includes two commemorative stamps:​

A ₹5 stamp depicting a young Mahatma Gandhi as a barrister, symbolizing his early years.​

A ₹25 stamp illustrating Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi arriving in India, with a ship in the background, representing their return from South Africa.​
The sheet also features artwork of Gandhi’s transformation from a lawyer to a leader of India’s freedom movement, including imagery of spinning wheels (charkha) and scenes from mass movements.​
Historical Context
Mahatma Gandhi returned to India on January 9, 1915, after spending over two decades in South Africa, where he developed his philosophy of nonviolent resistance. His return marked the beginning of his active involvement in India’s struggle for independence.​
