The Georgian 500,000 Lari banknote was issued in 1994 as part of the coupon series. It measures 115 x 55 mm and does not contain any security threads however placing the note under a UV light would reflect a parallelogram watermark pattern. The banknote’s front design depicts a carving of a griffin from the Samtavisi Cathedral flanking a Borjgali, the symbol of the sun and tree of life, and a vertical gray stripe at the right edge of the watermark area. At the back is a delicate carving of a grapevine also found in the Samtavisi Cathedral.
