The Japan 1 Yuan Banknote from 1916 is part of the 1910 – 1917 Gold Certificate series, which depicts a portrait of a character from ancient Japanese history. Its obverse side features Takeuchi no Sukune, a legendary Japanese hero and god. The reverse side features a rosette, a 1-yen gold coin from 1874, and an exchange clause. The note is 145 x 85 mm in size and does not contain any security threads however when placed under a UV light, a watermark image of paulownia leaves is visible.
