The Georgia 2,000 Lari banknote from 1993 bears exquisite carvings from the Samtavisi Cathedral. Its front design depicts a carving of griffin flanking a Borjgali, the symbol of the sun and tree of life. On the reverse is a well-crafted carving of a grapevine. The note was designed by Nodar and Bachana Malazonia and measures 115 x 55 mm. Its security features include a solid security thread and a rhombus pattern watermark.
